Dental disease is a series of changes in your pet’s mouth that can lead to gum disease, damage to the teeth and possibly damage to other organs in the body.
Signs of dental disease may include, but are not limited to:
1. Bad breath
2. Broken teeth
3. Chewing on one side of the mouth
4. Hesitancy to chew dry food or play with toys
5. A swelling or loss of symmetry on one side of the face
6. Drooling excessively
7. Pawing or rubbing the face
8. Bleeding from the mouth
9. Chronic sneezing with or without discharge
10. The inability to close or open the mouth
Untreated dental disease is uncomfortable and can lead to other health problems, such as heart, liver and kidney disease.
There are a variety of dental issues a pet owner might see:
1. Plaque and tartar accumulation
2. Broken teeth
3. Gingivitis (Gum disease)
4. Periodontal disease (Disease of the tissues that hold the teeth in position)
